Walking With Our Sisters

Walking With Our Sisters is a commemorative art installation comprised of over 17,00 pairs of vamps (moccassin tops) with the focus of bringing attention to the 1,100+ missing and murdered aboriginal women in Canada. The installation is scheduled to travel to 25 different cities across North America and is now booked until 2019

Each pair of vamps within the exhibit represents one missing or murdered Indigenous woman, the unfinished vamps represent women whose lives were cut shot and thereby unfinished, and the children’s vamps represent the children who never returned from residential school.  Along with the vamps over sixty different pieces of music were submitted to the exhibit to be played while visitors experience the exhibit.
